Cutting Board Care and Maintenance Instructions

How to Maintain Your Cutting Board

  1. Clean your cutting board - thoroughly with warm water and mild dish soap. Allow to dry.
  2. Smooth the Surface – If there are many deep scratches sand and smooth the surface with steel wool or and orbital sander or with a piece of sand paper.
  3. Oil and Wax – Apply a thin layer of Cutting Board Conditioner, wait 5-15 minutes, wipe off excess.

HAND WASH ONLY

Never wash your wooden cutting board in the dishwasher and never submerge it in water!

 Disinfecting and Deodorizing Vinegar Spray

It’s a good to keep a spray bottle of White Distilled Vinegar on hand. White Vinegar is an excellent disinfectant for E.coli, Salmonella, and other harmful bacteria. Simply spray the entire surface of the board, let it sit a few minutes and wipe with a damp cloth.

 Stain Removal and Deodorizing Baking Soda Paste

Mix together: 2TBSP Baking Soda, 1 TBSP Salt and 3 TBSP hot water to form a paste. This is a

 Non-toxic cleaning agent effective for removing stains and deodorizing your cutting board.

Apply paste to the cutting board and scrub to clean surface of the entire cutting board.

Wipe it off with a warm wet cloth and dry with a clean dry dish towel.

Coarse Salt and Lemon

This is another all-natural, fresh solution to clean your cutting board.

  1. Dampen the wooden board with a warm, wet cloth.
  2. Sprinkle the surface area with coarse salt
  3. Cut a lemon in half and scour the cut side of the lemon all over the surface of the board, while slightly squeezing a little of the lemon juice out.
  4. Let it sit for 5 minutes
  5. Use a scrub brush to remove excess

Refurbishing Your Cutting Board

Over time, knife marks accumulate on your board. One of the wonderful things about wooden cutting boards is the ability to return it to its original splendor!

 You will need sandpaper of three different grits. 100, 180, and 240.  First sand the board with the coarser grit, 100, and then the 180 and finish with the 240. Wash with a damp cloth and apply your Cutting Board Conditioner.
